Omer 'More' CN21.32 (code 195MCN2132) specialist air coil nailer — the ideal tool for plywood floor laying.
The More range from global brand Omer, Italy is the exceptional tool for firing the smallest
nails from 16mm to 32mm and 1.8mm diameter.
The
nails are available in smooth, or ring shank and bright or electro-galvanised finishes.
The Pros? This is the ideal tool for the application of fixing 4mm or 6mm thick plywood overlay sheets to flooring boards.
Other tools are available to fire 22mm ring coil
nails , but the wire collated coil
nails are extremely difficult to collate correctly for these tools, as the 22mm nail is usually below the rated specification for the tools, which generally fire
nails from 25mm to 50mm.
Floor layers who have these tools will know the down-time experienced in clearing jams and also the associated repair costs as the regular jamming causes expensive parts such as the driver blade and nose to break.
However, the More CN21.32 from Omer is an extremely lightweight tool (1.15kg) designed to fire these very small
nails and is powerful enough to drive a ring shank nail. The nail for the More CN21.32 is collated together using a plastic tape (sometimes called sheet collation) which has hooks to hold the nail in the coil, so no more wire collation debris flying off the nail as it is fired.
The advantages of plastic tape collation over wire collation are superior feeding of each nail into the firing position, and using a tool which is specifically designed for the small 18mm and 22mm ring
nails will mean less jamming, less down-time and less repair costs.
The CN21.32 comes with tool free depth adjustment wheel, to ensure the
nails heads are fired just below flush, and the 18mm and 22mm ring shank
nails available mean the chance of the nail point going through the sub-floor is stopped.
The cons? Tape collation is a more expensive method than wire collation, but the saving in labour time per job should more than offset that.
As a lightweight tool, it is less powerful than the 50mm coil nailers, so old / dense sub-floors may mean the tool struggles to drive the nail all the way in, but the depth adjustment wheel and increasing the air pressure to the tool will compensate for that.
All in all, this is the best tool we have seen for the job of plywood overlay flooring.
